Nibinamik means “Summer Beaver”, and this small Oji-Cree community goes by both names. It is located about 450 km north of Thunder Bay. Nibinamik has a population of about 400 people. The community is a member of the Matawa Tribal Council. It has close ties to Webequie First Nation.
